Life drawing - Session 3

I'm heavily inspired by Euan Uglow so I decided to paint in last night's session. I'm quite surprised at just how much I'm liking using watercolours. I have a wonderful A2(ish) paper pad which is ready stretched which is brilliant to work on. It's making such a difference having decent paper which really holds the paint.

This dog portrait is my latest commission.

Following on from Unico, I experiemented further by adding colour to the areas of tone. By the end this was more a watercolour painting than a drawing!

I'm very excited by the potential this technique offers, and I LOVE the grain of the watercolour paper!

This portrait was an experimental change in style for me. For the first time I used watercolour pencil to create areas of tone.

Quite an exciting step forwards I think.
